Full Bathroom Remodel
A full remodel means rebuilding the bathroom, not simply refreshing finishes. In the wet areas we take the finishes down to the framing, inspect the substrate, plumbing, and electrical, correct what needs attention, and then build the new bathroom.

Tub-to-Shower Conversion & Walk-In Showers
In many homes the tub is rarely used but takes up much of the room. A conversion turns that space into a walk-in shower with a niche, a bench, and a glass enclosure. The drain, slope, plumbing, and waterproofing have to be right before any tile goes on.

What a Full Bathroom Remodel Includes
Demolition and debris haul-away. We open the necessary wall and floor areas and check the framing and substrate.
Plumbing for the shower, tub, toilet, and vanity, including relocated lines when the layout changes, and fixture installation.
Outlets, circuits, and lighting to current code. We check the exhaust fan and that it vents to the outside.
Shower base preparation and waterproofing of the wet areas. The shower pan is water tested before tile, and hidden stages are photographed for you.
Tile installation and grout, vanity and accessories, shower glass, smooth walls (skim coating) outside the tiled areas, and paint.
Permit documents and coordination with your city, required inspections, daily cleanup, and final cleaning.
Materials are usually priced separately from labor: you choose the tile, vanity, faucets, lighting, and other finishes and pay for them directly, so material costs stay transparent. Changes go through a written Change Order. We clean the work area daily and walk through the finished bathroom with you at the end.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in the Bay Area?
Start with the scope. Replacing fixtures in the same locations is very different from a full demolition with relocated plumbing, a walk-in shower, new electrical, and upgraded finishes. We give an exact price after a site visit or from a detailed video with dimensions. If the actual scope matches, the price holds.
Do I need a permit to remodel a bathroom in Sunnyvale or Palo Alto?
It depends on the city and the scope, but usually yes. In Sunnyvale, a Tub and Shower Permit is required for bathroom remodels that include replacement of a tub or shower, or installation or relocation of additional plumbing fixtures or cabinets. In Palo Alto, a licensed contractor can get an instant permit for a qualifying remodel within the existing footprint, provided there are no changes to walls, windows, doors, or structure, no additions to fixture count or equipment, and no service panel or subpanel upgrade. We check the requirements before work starts.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A full remodel within the existing layout usually takes about 2-3 weeks of active construction once the scope is confirmed and materials are on site. Layout changes, complex tile, custom glass, hidden damage, or owner-requested changes can extend the schedule. Permit processing is separate and not something we promise.
Can we live at home during the remodel?
Usually yes, especially if you have another bathroom. Expect noise, dust, and periods when the bathroom being remodeled cannot be used. We isolate the work area and clean it daily.
What changes when you convert a tub to a shower?
More than the tub. The shower base, drain, waterproofing, and finishes change, and often the plumbing and valve locations too. We define the exact scope after inspecting the existing structure.
What happens if you find water damage, rot, or mold?
We do not cover damaged material with new finishes. We show you what was found and determine what needs to be corrected. If the condition requires specialized remediation outside the remodel scope, we tell you before work continues.
Why test the shower pan with water before tiling?
Once the tile is on, the waterproofing cannot be inspected. We fill the pan with water and confirm the membrane holds before it is covered. Where the city requires it, the inspector checks the shower pan test as well.
Do you offer tub reglazing?
No. Reglazing works when the job is purely cosmetic and the tub and everything around it are in good condition. It does not let you check the waterproofing, the substrate, or hidden damage. We do full bathroom remodels and tub-to-shower conversions.
What is not included in the initial estimate?
Finish materials, permit fees, hidden conditions that could not reasonably be identified before demolition, and owner-requested changes after the original scope is approved are typically separate. Any additional work is agreed on before it is performed.
